As a social work practitioner my approach is relational and strengths based. During my 25 years of practice I have supported clients confronting various forms of distress including anxiety, depression, childhood trauma and substance abuse. I have worked with families and individuals and have specific training and interest in supporting gender nonconforming adults, youth and their families.
My Practice.
Finding the right therapist can be hard. It’s a unique relationship, sharing your thoughts, feelings and vulnerabilities with a stranger. My approach is strengths based and client-centered.
People seek therapy to make a change in their lives. You might be facing a current challenge or recognizing long held patterns of thought and action that no longer work for you. My goal is to provide a place for you to explore where you are and where you want to go. With this knowledge we will work together to identify your strengths and resources while cultivating new tools to help during difficult times.
In working with families, my goal is to make sure everyone feels heard and understood. I help facilitate an understanding of roles and expectations, and how these dynamics create communication patterns. Therapy can be hard, and I try to balance sessions with a sense of fun and a reminder that families can connect in positive ways even while tackling challenging issues.
